Hi guys, thought id better tell you this before someone has an accident.
The heater bypass on the throttle body ( pull out the coolant pipes and join them up ) is a great way to ensure that you are getting cold dense air into the cylinders.
However, the other day on my way to work i was doing about 70 mph when a lorry puld out infront of me on the motoray to overtake. I came off the throttle but for some reason my car was still going. I had to dip the clutch and brake at which point my engine was reving its tits off. Somewhat bemused i put on my hazards, pulled up on the hard shoulder and killed the engine. It was only when i opened the bonnet that i realised my throttle was frozen in the open position.
The temperature on monday when it happened was minus three which with the combination of no hot water circulating in the throttle body caused the flap to freeze open.
I have since reconected the heater pipes to prevent the incident from re-occuring and urge everyone else to do the same, at least until the weather warms up again anyway.
Just hope no-one else gets this problem cos its bloody scary!
