Albert Tatlock - Cheers mate, saw loads of '1's and '2's in Oz without the spoilers on and thought I'd try the look over here to see the reaction :thumbup

steveo - Nothing major mate, just want to extend the posts by an inch or 2 to increase the height a bit. The idea came from looking at the differance betweed standard and wild spoilers available on the gen3/SIII. It'll take a bit of playing with the filler though, to keep it looking OEM. As for the Headers, they've been on for a year now - no signs of splitting/cracking yet. The xs is good kit for the money, you may have a clearance issue if you have aircon (I do not) though, as the xs seems a bit longer in the section leading from the engine block - fairly sure the OBX doesn't have this issue...

Cheers mate. They are the F2 EVO alloys, made by TSW for Hyundai. They came in Sliver but were a bit kerbed and tatty looking (and I like Black wheels :) ) so I filled in the H logo on the spokes and sprayed 'em Satin black. There's about 4 coats of paint and 2 coats of primer on there - good thing is that it's easily refinished if they get kerbed again...:thumbup

OK - finally got around to sorting a cold air feed to the SRI. I basically removed the foglights and ran a 4" flexible duct from the cone filter to the passenger side foglight area. This was mated to the now gutted and suitably holed foglight housing (with lump hammer and hacksaw- these things are TOUGH!) with much gaffa tape and silicone sealant securing the duct. The whole thing was then refitted using the factory fixings. This pic shows the foglight ducts, I was lying on the driveway at the time, which is why the car looks a bit weird:



This pic shows the duct as it is in the engine bay. It leaves the bay directly under the battery - via the plastic arch liner - and runs around the carbon emissions canister in front of the N/S wheel, to the back of the foglight:



A temp sensor placed inside the duct next to the cone now shows that it is flowing air to the cone at very close to external temps. It certainly is fast flowing, the first run blew the sender clean out of the duct! The drivers side foglight surround now runs a duct to the engine bay, via a somewhat constricted route between the radiator and the front slam panel - I'll be doing something better with this in due course, but had a bit of ducting left over...

The foglight housings were flushed into the bumper using black silicone sealant, this again will be tidied up at a later date. There will be a shroud fitted too - around the cone. This will certainly be unique, and guaranteed to raise a smile ;)

Yeah, looks tidier too - I reckon. Did you sort some sort of cold air feed to the cone, Steve?

UPDATE:

Mazda MX-5 side repeaters now fitted. After a few hours with silicone and needle files :roll:

The air feed is a 4" duct from the N/S foglight direct to the cone. It feeds air direct to the filter at close to (within a couple of degrees) external temps. Not noticed a humungous differance, but it's way cooler than the 30 odd C that the underbonnet temps are - so it's all good :)

I noticed a heat increase too. My 4-2-1 is, indeed, wrapped with Cooltek. Works ok but would've been better if I'd got the proper overlap (you need 50%, I rushed it a bit and it shows :roll: ). I've also raised the rear of the bonnet a bit (5mm) and removed all the rubber seals, for better airflow. Nice and descreet, certainly works - you can see a heat haze from the windscreen end of the bonnet when stationary.

hey josh,

there will be plastic splash guard in your way if you try and get it from directly under the car. an easier way of getting at the fogs is to remove the headlights and go in from above... alot easier... heres a guide:

Yeah - I'll give you the full rundown next time I see see ya, Kev - but its basically a 4" aluminium duct run from a gutted N/S foglight, around the gubbins inside the wheelwell and upto the cone filter of the SRI via a hole cut in the plastic 'bay liner...

Factory spoiler is so low that I reckon it is there for aesthetic purposes - mebbe my 'Wild' conversion will make a differance, but I doubt it. I belive I'm right in thinking that the only OE spoiler that created any downforce is the one fitted to the F2 EVO's...
