Dodge. Make this a sticky please.

Well, yesterday I had a customer drop a coupe off for CAI, plugs, leads, manifold and cat...so i thought i'd take pics while i fitted them to post on here.

Here goes...

1. Remove airbox, resonator and all else connected to old intake system. Put the old bolts in a small bag, and rest of air box etc in a box for safe keeping.

When you take out the AIT sensor (intake temperature sensor), please also remove the rubber grommet from the old air box. This will fit in the pre drilled hole in the intake pipe a bit later.




2. Loosely fit the first part of the Intake to the throttle body. Fasten the jubilee clip but do not tighten as you will be maneuvering this later.


3. Attach the filter to the second pipe, and tighten securely.


4. Attach another joiner hose to the shorter intake pipe.


5. Secure the second (longer) pipe and filter to the first part. Twist accordingly, and the filter should sit just under the battery tray.


6. There are 2 x extra vacuum hoses with the kit. One big and one slightly smaller in internal diameter. Fit these to the intake pipes according to size. You will need some boiling water to make life a little easier. Also, trim to the right length. I normally do half inch at a time as i don't want to get too trigger happy with Stanley the Knife.


7. Now is the time to tighten up all the jubilee clips....I normally use a 7 or 8mm socket for a proper job. Flat Eric (my flat screwdriver) does not give me the right angle.


8. You will find a bracket attached to the second intake pipe. This will have to be bent back slightly. You will also have a 'Z' shaped bracket and two bolts. Secure one part to the intake's bracket and the other part to the old air box's mount. You will need to gently bend the brackets a bit until they fit. Use the nuts / bolts supplied to secure the whole kit.




9. Insert the grommet for the AIT sensor into the new intake pipe (as shown in pic). Now insert the AIT sensor itself. It should be a snug fit.


Thats it. All done.


Note. The battery should have been disconnected while the work was being done, hence feeling free to install, reconnect battery and going for a spin.

Results.
After CAI, iridium plugs, Headers and Cat, this is what she sounds like...awesome. Pardon the geeky voice in the background...that was not me. Mine is manly. :P

Just a note if anyones interested. I purchased something similar to this but for my Gen3. Once it was fitted I decided that the filter sitting directly beside the engine was bad for heat so I moved it so that it was fitted in under the left wing behind the fog light. To do this you basically need to bend that bracket so that it lines up with one of the hole son the body that your old air intake system atached to. The bit that would of went onto the engine not sits pointing straight back towards the engine bay. One quick call to hellfrauds to purchase some flexable ducting and there you have one relocated filter. BTW if your going to use that flexable ducting watch as it breaks extremely easy. I installed it then covered it in duct tape so it doesn't fall apart.
