In what I can only assume to be an over active fascination with these silly dancing programmes on TV, my friend has managed to make her MG TF to perform a Waltz on the M6, resulting in it abusing the crash barrier with it's arse.



Me personally, I'd say it's a write off (Purely because I hate it, horrid little motor) however, she wants it fixed. Aside from the obvious sourcing of a new/replacement bumper, is there another course of action which could be taken?

I've only managed to get my eyes round it briefly, and it appears though the crush can behind the bumper has taken a battering and will need replacing, but could this bumper be saved for less than the cost of a replacement (Looks like aboot £100 from eBay)?

Repairs on plastic bumpers can eadily crack again cuz they flex so much. If a replacemment is only 100 lids, then thats the option I'd go with. Less bodyshop costs too, so the overall price of replacing it rather than fixing it might not be a whole lot different.

not being sexist but when i was working at the garage the amount of people(mainly women) who came in with one story or another about the backend sliding out and needing new tyres on the back without realising its actualy RWD was rediculous. i hope your friend knows it is lol can't chuck them into corners the same way you can a clio :P

At least it was only a bumper though any nothing major. getting a new bumper will be your best bet. It might not have gone thruogh to the impact bar dosen't look quiet central or deep enough so you might be lucky there.

She's more than aware it's a RWD car. It's just a shame it's taken this long to make her realise that it NEEDS selling... or in my opinion drowning/burning/burying in the desert.

I did recommend registering there as it seemed to be the most active MG/Rover community I could find, but she's not a very forum-y person. Will mention it again before throwing money at an ebay seller.

Worth doing even for the information source - that tyre issue for example. I had no idea they were that sensitive to tyre types and had my arse chewed making what was seen as a recommendation...

my wife nearly bought a mg TF recently, she was keen on a little two seater jobby. She went for the mx-5 roadster coupe in the end. Clearly it doesn't compare to my beloved motor but I'm quite looking forward to giving it the beans (when she isn't around obviously).

People should get mr2's if they want a 2 seater rwd fun car. they also are awsome in the snow / will only spin out if you drive like an idiot. destroy most clios and otherswith them with ease

i'm with the concensus there, but as a car on the whole its a bloody good one, even if it more of a ladys car. the S2000 is the blokes car i reckon.....thats a beauty, especially the hard top but goin back to the mx-5, against the MGFemale/MGTotallyFemale is much more car, and more of a car.
