my window washers appear to have packed up (coupe s3).
when i try them nothing happens at all, no motor noise to suggest that it is even trying to do anything. fluid is not frozen up.

it was working fine on saturday and then started to trickle and then stopped (as if it had ran out of fluid, but hadn't).

any suggestions before i take it in for warranty?

have you perchance been trying to use when its frozen........cos if you have they have plastic spindles and cogs and they have a habit of breaking..........if the dealer asks no you havent been using it it just....stopped

no not yet, just strange that it would stop working whilst out on the road.
the way it stopped was as if the washer fluid had run out, but it hadn't.

Try cleaning the motor, takes 10-15 mins tops.

Take the driver side headlight out of the car (3 bolts on a Gen3 and just comes out)
You should see the washer bottle, there will be something attached to the side at the bottom, pull this off.
Detach the hoses and electrical connector and take a look at the part which was in the washer bottle, if you can't see metal gauze then clean it out.

To refit is a reverse of fitting. Attach the hoses and electrical connector, re-insert into the washer bottle, refit the headlight and top up the fluid.

I'm not gonna start stripping things out. That's what warranty is for.

I would defo check the fuse first the wife's astra washers stopped and her tailgate would not open I assumed both not working due to being frozen I then noticed no washer motor noise like you, went on the astra forum and to my amazement the washer fuse is also the tailgate release happy days :rollin

Which one is the washer fuse? I looked in both fuse boxes and couldn't see any marked for it.

It's probably the fuse, I had the same problem recently See this thread.

The wiper is needing more of a push in this weather therefore fuses are blowing a lot, there's a useful link in the thread also which shows which fuse is which (there should also be a diagram on the inside of the fusebox). Hope this helps.

The Gen 3 (& SIII) has 1 motor that does front and back. The Gen1 had 2 motors

i'm still trying to find out where the fuse is.
it doesn't seem to be mentioned on either of the fuse box labels.

still can't locate where the fuse for the washer motor is.

i've looked at the fuse map for both the internal and external fuse box and nowhere does it list anything about the washers.

there are seperate fused for front and rear wiper, but nothing for the washer.

he can contribute to the thread then? so everyone gets the advice/info ?

however i think i can safely say that it would be unlikely i would be sending any business to a garage in birmingham when i live in scotland, also as my car still has another 4 years of warranty on it i would not be doing any repairs or parts replacements on it myself.

without meaning to hijack the thread, i also have this problem on my gen 1. no noise from the washer jets.

However rear one does work. Hutchy mentioned theres 2 motors for the gen 1 washer jets. so im thinking i just need to replace the motor in the front one and "fingers crossed" problem solved.

Are these easy to fit? i.e do i just remove headlight and take motor off of bottle as outlined earlier in thread, then switch the motors and hey presto? but how do i know which one is front and which rear once i remove the headlight?

i could well be paying sharky a visit soon lol. but ill wait until i have more work on the car such as the exhaust to save botherting him sor something minor like this :D
