As Macker said, this is a problem with nearly every Gen1! Mine does it but to get the clock out you need to take the whole dashboard out, not too difficult but i just dont fancy it for the sake of a clock. If you do decide to give it a go though im sure theres a guide on here how to re solder the clock to get it to work again as its dry solder joints that cause the problem.

I dont think the dash is that difficult to remove, just a bit of a pain. Have to start from gear surround, take stereo out and dash around that and work your way up and around, the screws are all easily accessible if you want to do it. If you do get to the clock here is a thread with someone who repaired theres and pics on how to do it:

think i'll take a look tonight, gear surround and stereo facia are easy, the part i assume would be the 2 screw above the dials and whatever is underneath the stereo facia i presume?

BE VERY CAREFUL

you need to ensure you kill the power by removing the battery terminal and pushing the brake a few times before you try to take the dash apart, it's very easy to trip the air bag warning light when doing stuff with the dash and the only way to get that reset is to take it to a hyundai dealer which costs mular.

got so close to the clock and failed miserably.

got the top part of the dash loose, but it wouldn't budge any further, how do ya get it off? :bang

couldn't see what was holding it in place, do i need to disconnect every wire behind the dash or something? if so, how much do hyundai charge to do a replacement?

Thanks

SUCCESS!!!!

Took me a long 4 hours (dropped the screws underneath the airducting plastic thing :bang )

Still, soldering was easy and it's brighter than it's ever been

I dont like messing with my own car! other peoples im fine with but mine scares me as i dont want to ruin anything, i might give it a go as the clock is the only fault with the car and its one of those niggly things that annoy me, it was on this morning but will prob be off again later!
