Hi all
Ok I have seen a lot of people wanting the 2005 facelift headlights so as I am one of the only people on here who has brought the imports and realised what a waste of money they are and now have a set of UK lights I thought I would set up a topic about them.

The sets from performance coupe, K-spec, and import shark are all for the USA and Korea so they are set up for LHD. you can adjust the height of the light beams but you CAN NOT ADJUST THEM TO RHD UK SPEC NO MATTER WHAT YOU DO. Reason for this is....... inside the lights there is a metal dome where the main headlight is. in front of the bulb is a metal plate and this determines the way the light falls on the road. This is a solid unit and the plate can not be changed.

Also the import lights have a different wiring/ socket on the back of them. This means that you will also need to pull the wiring out of the new lights and your old lights then you have to put the loom from the old lights it into the new ones. there are also no side lights in the import lights so you will have to drill some. Also you can be fined for blinding on coming traffic as the lights will rise on the right hand side of the road. This is a £30 fine if you blind an oncoming police officer.

For a set of UK Spec lights witch are a direct fitment with no re wiring or messing about you are looking at over £250 a light from most dealerships.

But I am able to get the lights for £230 each. This is expensive but it is cheaper in the long run.

A set of import lights are about
£200 a set, you will also ruin the old lights by pulling out the wiring. So you will still have to buy a set of UK lights for the MOT. That will set you back £250 for an original set of 2002 lights.
So you will have spent £450 and you still won't have a legal set of 2005 facelift lights. I would recommend just buying a set of UK spec ones in the first place.

Hpe this helps and feel free to ask any questions.

Phil

I was quoted £520 for a set of new smoked fitted lights from Holdcrofts Hyundai still too exspensive when you consider the US equivalent

Just thought I would let you all know that I am now the proud owner of a set of 2005 headlights. Managed to get one off here and the other off ebay to make a pair. I have now fiited the front and rear updated lights to my black coupe and the end result is excellent. Next mod: Chunky set of 18's.

you can get deflectors and they just divert the light away from on comeing cars but they don't change the way the light sits on the ground. you need to have higher light on the left and low light on the right.

i think sarah had this problem with her import lights from SR

ive done a diy mod on my 03 gen 3, there is posting on hear of how to do it, it'll take a good day to do it how ever, the result tho is no big amber patch and the chrome surround is paint matt black, ill be posting my own guide on how i did it soon, and some pics of the results. you also get to make your headlights individual by leaving parts of the chrome on show,

You want it, you've got it.

Here are the part numbers for '05 UK RHD facelift lights (with the levelling device):

92102-2C541
92101-2C541

I really don't know why OEM lights are so expensive - you'd think they were hand carved by some fameous artist!

The strangest thing I found was that if you go to a show and wait till the last few hours on the last day (when all the prices drop) you can often pick up a set of modified, road legal rear lights for some cars for about £30-40 a pair!?! ... yet they'll normally cost about £100 in a shop online.

I'm thinking of experimenting with an old set of headlights I have for my car to see if I can "tint" the lenses without affecting the reflector. Will have to set my camera to manual and see what the difference comes out like compared to OEM headlights ... if it doesn't work they'll just be handy for a set of show lights .. or a shell for a completely new set of lights (i.e. rip some projector headlights out of a car from the scrappy) ;)
