Ok guys, as per my previous post, my car rear needs a respray (Finally got some pics, see below) I was hoping once pay day had come I could throw £200 at getting it sorted, however due to unforeseen circumstances, I can't afford it.

Anyhow, as the respray is put on hold, is doing a DIY job an option? (Not preferable, wouldn't want to fluff it up) or is there something I could just spray/cover the scratches with to prevent any rust or further damage from forming?

you could use hyundai touchup paint for nicks, (dont bother with halfords touchups as they arent the right colour)
And you may be able to get away with using Tcut, should just about cover it up untill you can get it repaired.

Excellent, make sure you use the proper black tcut, not the "original" stuff as it wont look as good as ive discovered.

that doesn't look like it's even gone through the lacquer to be honest. Tcut (black!) and elbow grease should make it look better.

if it has gone through the paint t-cut will be a no hoper. Run your finger nail over the scratches lightly. If it gets stuck it needs to be sprayed. if not you can use 'paint correction' techniques to sort it.



Have a good read through that, you'll get a good idea and it isn't as daunting as it seems

It is very easy to use a touch-up pen just be patient with it, but you still need to use a compound.....after sanding, as devistating as it sounds.

if it does need a respray, wait until you can afford to do it properly. A crap job will make it worse and you'll regret it a year down the line. Buy cheap, buy twice. Doesnt look down to bare metal, so it'll be ok to leave until you can afford to do it properly

Androo, I intend on getting it done right eventually, just a quick cover up, or some form of protection (Like slapping some cling film over it... but prettier :P) was all I was really after for now, I guess Hopefully next pay day will be free of troubles.

Depending on lacation Vinyl can be cheaper option, I got bad scratch on my door, an Lidl (ultimate vinyl) can do something to cover it for a fraction of the price.

£200 for the rear arch is very cheap, my cheapest was £350, as the blending in requires chasing to the roof, as theres no panal there, its part of the body!

Also little bits can be done yourself, my mirror bases are now black, as it'd be £100 to have them done, when a teners worth of aerosol and some masking tape would do it.

Only things I'm having done are bonnet dents and arch rust, as neither can be shortcutted.

if you can get it done for £200 then just save, if it's not through to the metal it shouldnt cause you any rust problems, any other option is going to eat at least £50 (1/4) and some will up the cost of the repair too which just doesnt make sense.
