Got a red car with black and silver alloys
wanting to get my brake calipers sprayed.

People say go for red but i think it may be too much red. so im thinking blue.

What does thy public say?

blue caliper .......................... im torn between red n blue. think red will suit the car but then will be like most red cars

ive got blue on blue mate, but really dont think it would suit red to be fair

dont forget to paint the hub silver as well

Get a tin of calliper paint and a small brush. The Halfords own brand one is pretty good and its fairly cheap. Theres loads in it too. (It'll take 2-3 coats)

[1] Prop the front of the car up on axle stands.

[2] Take off the two front wheels.

[3] Wipe the callipers with a paint prep wipe. Give them a light sand if theres any heavy crap or gunk on them.

[4] Paint the first coat of paint on one calliper. Don't put the paint on too thick. And don't worry about streaks, these will be taken care of on the 2nd and 3rd coats.

[5] Repeat for the next calliper.

[6] By the time you've finished the second calliper, the first one should be dry enough for the next coat of paint.

[7] Repeat the process until they're evenly coated.

[8] Pop the wheels back on and do the same for the rear.

[9] When you're finished, sit back, grab a beer and admire your work.

JOB DONE!!!!!!

Sounds good but wont i be left with brush marks if using a brush?

nope ull see with the paint there would be none!even if there was u'd have to be v close to spot it!

£27 from halfords......

They must have drastically increased their prices. I can't remember exactly how much I spent, but it was deffo less than €10. I just picked up a cheap brush in a stationary shop.

I used hammerite smooth.

Even with a huge coarse wire brush, and a softer "toothbrush" style wire brush for the fiddly bits, I couldn't get them remarkably smooth. They were in a particularly thick rusted state and I got bored with over 30 minutes per calliper. Just be sure to get rid of all the dust too, I blew as hard as I could then gave each one a quick wash with white spirits.

I gave each one four decent coats but they could have maybe done with another one to be spot on, but remember to leave at least 2hours per coat, and around 24hours before driving after the final coat

To answer your question though... no, you won't see brush marks but to get the best look possible spend as long on brushing and cleaning your callipers as good you want them to look. The more time you spend getting the callipers smooth and clean the better they will come out

WELL....... its kind of been done lol no where had the yellow stuff i wanted so got some yellow enamel, little cans and it was very thin so took alot of coats.......

The problem..... only got half the side done as the other side, one wheel would not come off, the wheel nut rounded off but the other side looks good
