...and the trick with filling up is to fill until it clicks off...then pay....then after quite a few miles (the more the better) you fill up again at the same pump until it clicks. It's as accurate as you are going to get.

lol at the demo vid Chris....I see what you mean now....it's always on 40mpg...lol

I'm gonna watch to see what comments and ratings that gets....lol again.(not really a lol, more an understanding grin..)

Did it not do that before? I suppose quite often you will get a read out that is not indicative of the average reading. I'm assunming that yours indicates 10mpg most of the time...(?)

Yep it tends to fly right around to 10 mpg at the slightest of touch.

Pain the rrrs I know but have you considered going back to the standard panel.......doh! you've discarded that I bet......just to see whats afoot I meant...

If someone had said " if I swap to a K&N panel filter will it make my mpg guage read 10 all the time" I would have posted a cocky "defo no". . .there's always something new to learn.

If you had carbs instead of injection I would have guessed that the K&N was still in it's plastic wrapper by now...that would have the car turning to drink while it waits for some air to arrive....
....but, as the air is less impeded and everything is monitored and corrected constantly I can't imagine the filter making such a difference...

...the only alternative that I can think of is that you have a magnet in your hand up the back of the dash and you're having us on. :)

Well the fuel usage seems to have settled down, if anything I think i was confusing the poor thing by driving like a Gandma.

Guage is very much still doing its own thing, but if anything it gives the kids something to look at :-P :rollin

Maybe the mods have just massively increased your efficiency, to the point at which your engine is now running on air? Have you filled up with fuel in, say, the last 30,000 miles?

If you haven't, then chances are I'm right.

Chris, I bet when you first got the car you had a look round the displays but when you set off driving you had enough to concentrate on without checking the guages......(speedo excepted)

....now you fitted a filter you are nervous it's affected the economy and as you are used to the car, you can spare some time on watching that particular aspect with not only one eye but a camera phone too.

From one to ten (ten being the wrongest), how wrong am I? :)

the mpg guage is electronic, that whole pannel is. I've stripped all the intake and pipework off for the charger and back again. At a guess I'd say it was a TB sensor, and or MAF. The only other sensor is a air pressure one, but that wouldn't help.

And I wouldn't be concerned what it says. Do you believe the trip computer also?

Mine used to stop reading at 35 miles left (at quarter tank!).
