Hi All

Not posted on here before now, but im hoping somebody might be able to help .
I own a Hyundai Coupe 2.0 2000 SE Model.

It started playing up a few weeks ago and the car was running on 3 cylinders and misfiring on the 4th.

I replaced the Leads that attach to the spark plugs and it cured the misfire.

It now however does not accelerate smoothly at all, it kind of chugs away particularly up hills.
If i put the clutch down the revmeter will go up like usual to around 6k revs, however when driving it often levels off at 3k revs and wont go beyond for a time. In general the revs are just very intermittent and the car now just has no guts.

A friend of mine thinks it could be that the leads are in the wrong order, however i have spoken to the garage and they said they will only go in one order.. Iam non theless going to check this tomorrow and see if this helps..

Any Ideas / Help but be greatly appreciated.

if the leads where the wrong way round it'd misfire ... struggle to start aswell I think

could be the cat has collapsed - that gives similar symptoms - whats the mileage?

The mileage is 83k

Cat = Catalytic Converter, the bit that sorts your emissions.

It's kind of a ceramic sponge with a precious metal coating that changes the composition of the exhaust gas as it passes through it. They can break up with age and if so will block the exhaust and make the car appear down on power...

can you hear any slight rattling when the exhaust is blipped on the driveway? Would be coming from where you sit

Thought i would i do a follow up with how i have gone on.

It turned out that my ignition leads were knackered and the coil pack did in fact need replacing.

Apparently the Leads are quite a common fault with my type of coupe.
