hi, my cambelt is due for a change, do they come with tenioners if you had to buy one? if i booked it into a garage do they put them on as a matter of course?

Make sure you ask any garage that are going to do it, alot will just buy the cambelt alone unless you request any different

As above. Buy your own kit with the tensioner, get them to fit it and ask for the bits they take off. Then you'll know it's been done.

only downside with buying a kit though,

IF it fails

The garage will blaim the part

The part makers will blame the garage

So you'll be getting diddly squat back tbh. At least if the garage supplies and fits the parts, if it messes up, then only they can be held accountable. IMHO with cambelts, i'd leave it to them... by the time they add their prices on anyhow (smaller independant garages) its up to retail price anyhow
