Hi,

My engine management light turnd on today. Last night i noticed a considerable lack of power in every gear on the way home from work. I still noticed it this morning but not as much and now the engine management light is on. Any thoughts on what this could be? Its a V6. I have checked the CAI and all possible plugs and leads in the engine bay to make sure they hadnt worked loose. Also checked all fluid levels which seem fine.

I will plug in my OBD sensor when i get home tonight, but if anyone has any suggestions on what to look for before i get home, id really appreciate it.

Cheers
Steve

could be almost anything really, faulty sensor, etc.

Best to scan it with your tool first before any speculation :)

Ran the scan and its come back as code P0130.

02 sensor Circuit Malfunction (Bank 1 Sensor 1)

Clueless to what this means, anyone know? and how much will this be to fix?

IIRC - thats the code for a Lambda sensor fault, contact Sharky as he'll know for certain. I think you have a choice of 3 possibles, tho I belive it to be on one of the precats.

Need to be careful with OBD readouts. Mine said O2 sensor fault but I knew it was down to the cracked manifold, and there was nothing wrong with the sensor.

I'm sure Sharky has posted about this issue before

That's really quite handy and fantastically poor for anyone with an OBD reader

resettling the ECU will turn off the warning light but if you do have a fault then that sod of a light will come up again after 20 miles. Your best bet to get a proper diagnoses read out is to take it to HYUNDAI as most high street garages diagnostic machine won't pin point the problem & they'll still charge you 25 quid for the pleasure. Also disconnecting the battery & doing the footbrake thing doesn't always guarantee an ECU reset, FACT. Since your light came on have you noticed more petrol used & more smoke from the exhaust. If memory serves me then i'm prity sure that read out code you gave is a faulty FRONT lamda senso

yep bank 1 is primary sensor - could be down to cracked manifold, could be busted sensor

Is the V6 prone to cracking manifolds then? Thought that was just an I4 thing...

Would be handy to know WHEN the time comes...

Off to sharky tomorrow for an inspection, the light hasnt re-occured. It is using more petrol and a bit more of a smokey exhaust.

I was in Hyundai last week having a Diognostics as my Engine light kept coming on. It was a P1166 error followed by the back sensor error code followeed by a slow reaction code :bang .
As Hyundai suggested I got the front sensor changed first hoping that the light would stay off and it was the front sensor playing up that caused the back sensor code to appear......Only for the engine management light to come back on Sat nite after replacing the front sensor :(.

I did get a genuine Hyundai front sensor but got a local garage to fit it, the only problem is they could not clear the code and turn the light off as there diagnostics machine could not get into the ECU. If I have not had the fault code cleared would it cause the light to come back on even if I have had a new sensor? I think next time im just going to bite the bullet and get Hyundai to replace the sensors and have it retested there and then.....in the long run it will save money i guess :).

Stu
