Just recently taken my 2002 2.0l gen 3 for a diagnostics check at my local hyundai dealer after the engine check light appeared on the dash... Been told its a cracked exhaust manifold/cat and a split in the front exhaust pipe, been quoted £950 from hyundai... Gonna take to few garages to ask for other quotes to see if i can get it any cheaper...

Any suggestions of solutions to my problem would be greatly appreciated, what options would be best and cheapest...

theres a few around, you could save the cat from the old one and get it grafted into the new one

try SSAutochrome, OBX, PC, ARK, DC Sports etc

Cheers for replies guys... Ive read somewhere that you cant fit an aftermarket CAT to a car registered after MAR01, do you know if this is correct and if it would get picked up on during an MOT?

That information is incorrect - as long as the car passes the MOT emissions test, all will be well.

It could just be that after Mar 01 (i think it might even be late '00) that the gen 2+ coupe has 2 o2 sensors, one before and one after cat - with some it requires the second extending and bunged in after the cat - then it registers the 2 variables, sees the emmisions is lower and doesnt pop the check light up. But on early 3's i think you can just hang it in the bay....

other than that i cant think of any reason why not
