i have a gen1 2.0 coupe when i start it it revs higher than usual
then after a minute or less it wont rev and dies when this happens
then leave it 5 minutes then starts for a minute and does it again
its sounds like its taking in to much air sounds like having
a sports filter with a big growl then dies with a quick hiss like a dump valve
when it cuts out
i think theres a leak from the inlet manifold gasket
would this be the cause of my problem ?
is this a common fault on coupes ?

i had this on a lantra...........and it cured itself.yes it is common but i dont know what it is sorry

I had this on my lantra too, turned out to be a perished foam gasket between the throttle body and first rubber intake pipe. Replacing this cured it.
