My MOT is due and some of the flexi pipe mesh has come away but its not blowing. do you think its an MOT failure?.
Another thing, on the same wiring loom as the TPS plug (on the throttle body, i think it is the TPS plug) there is a another plug/connector that hanging it looks like a connect to some sort of sender switch. any idea ? i wish i had taken a picture

I "THINK" it wont fail as long as its not blowing or rusted to pieces. as for that wire as you say one plug into the tps, there also should be a temp sensor wire which goes to the filter box and another one that does not connect to anything. So your probably all ok there buddy

The mesh braid is there to provide a bit of protection for the flexy section - as long as the pipe is not blowing, you'll be fine. If you want to double-check, have someone hold a pad of material over the exhaust pipes with the engine idling. Wander up the side of the car and listen for exhaust noises along the way, you'll hear it whistle if theres a leak...

Mine had that connector too, might be for a diagnostic doodad or something. Tuck it out the way and forget it's there

thanks to both of you and guess what it passed the MOT today yipeee!!!!!! needs some work on her though (and were not talking about my missus) i think where the car has been sitting for soooooo long the calipers are sticking a bit.
What a result i got the car for nothing it has only done approx 9000 miles in 4 years, its a P reg and has 73000 miles on the clock (i thought it was 77000) so all in all i have had a result.
Let the modding now beginning and hopefully i will see some of you at some events and meetings.

oooooh your ex car is very nice the same colour as mine, funny thing is i have a similar set up with the air filter, i have the same 4" air feed as you but mine is not directed behind the fog lights. i will be getting a strut brace though and the black wheels are spot on ...i think thats the route i be taking .
