Air Filter Part Number - 2001 1.6L SE?

I just received my K&N panel air filter for the coupe in the mail today, the part number is 33-2753 which seems to be correct according to information online, however, it won't fit in my air box :bang

I've looked up my original air filter part number 28113-22051 and that seems to come up as an air filter for a Hynudai Accent?

The K&N filter is about half an inch wider - is it possible some 1.6L coupes were fitted with the same airbox as the Accent?

looks like they have written 1.6-2l on the box.

Id presume they are different part #s and sizes

I think someone somewhere is confusing the Hyundai Coupe with the Hyundai Accent Coupe :bad

Had the same thing when I was after the towbar, folks reckoning the 2 are the same :bang

Send it back, claim refund - go to YBFilters shop on eBay, they know their stuff re: K&N...

I've maybe confused things here somewhat...

The orange (original used filter) air filter part number 28113-22051 comes up as the air filter for a Hyundai Accent.

The K&N airfilter on the box, part number 33-2753 and on the actual panel filter is also 33-2753 which is the one listed for the 1.6 and 2.0L coupes.

So I've taken some pics of my airbox to see if what I have is correct or not - cos I've got a Hyundai "Accent" air filter fitted in there right now:

Is this what the Coupe airbox should look like?

Thats an Alpha engine mate - you need the K&N panel for an Elantra, IMHO...

This filter listed below for the Elantra and Coupe is identical dimension wise to the K&N panel filter... :confused

K&N website says 33-2753 is the right part...

Pretty much as I suspected then - some cockup in the stores dept. Thats what happens when there are too many cars with different engine types and they all have (or have had) Coupe in the name...

Looks like it wouldn't have helped going to YBFilters after all - it's only listed for the Hyundai Accent 1.5L..

The one listed for the Coupe is what I have here... $:\$

Oh well I've emailed K&N to tell them about my predicament and see if they can sort it out - after all it's their published information that's innacurate at the end of the day.... :aargh

So is a 1.6L Coupe better off with the Alpha or Beta engine fitted?

Personally speaking, with the Beta engine - far more stuff available, IMO, and it's reputed to respond better to the common bolt-on mods too...

Well K&N UK were bloody useless - K&N USA said they'd send me the correct part if I was in the US... so much for customer service.

Have now sold the K&N filter and it's going to be on its way to Ireland in the post tomorrow - have just ordered a standard replacement air filter on eBay as I'm pi$$ed off with K&N (UK) and they can keep their products and incorrectly listed filter information to themselves :fingers

I'll buy them in the US when I'm back over that way though
