Yeah mines a V6. After reading this thread I am now a little worried that once I fit the DC Headers the engine will be running rich? Is that right?

Cheers

can tend to run a little richer - but rich is safer than lean ;)

ECU - cazza start another thread and we'll talk in that

ANd if it were running lean would the only way to know be via fitting a piggyback (or looking at the spark plugs?)

As an off note where sells SMTs? Can find Neo's on the net but not SMTs.

Thanks

Cu

ok, so really a tune isnt needed to speak, you can run a stage 1 s/c without a tune..... but it just depends how you want it really.

to get your AFR you can either get a wideband sensor installed and link that to a gauge or the tuning software, but probs easier to just get a dyno run done - that shows the AFR under WOT

Perfect Power - well, how to put this delicately.... go to them direct. We have one UK supplier, and um, i wouldnt use him. You have to ring South Africa iirc, ask for Marcell - lovely lady VERY helpfull and she will ship direct at a push.

That or faz is looking to sell his ;)

Just that if you did want it tuned up, smt is a good option. Gets wired into the existing loom.

Just so I have an idea before I ring how much roughly are they and what work is needed to de done by a tuning garage (so I can estimate costs on installation)...

Faz has sold his now btw, just thought I'd throw that in.

I think Faz said he set aside about £400 to have his map done, plus you have to go somewhere to get it tuned (as it goes on a dyno and that) The SMT itself I think is around the £250 mark but not overly sure

i paid 330 for the unit - note you HAVE to pay by credit card, cant use debit or paypal etc -

tuning was another £300, and fitting was about 3 hours labour.

Although, TC on newtib got an additional 10-15whp from a standard v6 by tuning, so if youre decat etc you might see a little more. But thats an ace tune.

for a piggyback unit they vary between £200 and £600 depending on what you get.
a remap will generally cost between £150 and £300 too, but make sure you go to a reputable dealer for this as they can blow your engine up.

If you are going to go for a remap, get everything performance wise that you are planning on doing for a while finished first, otherwise you will end up just wanting to get another remap done to adjust it again.

Unless you know what you are doing i wouldnt bother trying to map or adjust anything yourself, it will just end up in tears in the end 9 times out of 10

i got mine mapped originally as i wouldn have probably blown something had i not had it mapped. Now i have tinkered with little bits here and there, when i have sorted the new clutch, flywheel and mounts out and installed the wideband kit i will probably look at a remap to maximise the potential of what i have done and smooth out any minor errors from the original map now that the car is bedded in.
