How easy is it to do on a Gen1?

Also, can a starter motor from a 1.6 be used on a 2.0?

not sure about the interchangability but its not too bad, you'll need the airbox off for access iirc and the car on ramps as its round the back, i'd not fancy it outside in the snow tbh

Id love to be able to, but a few inches of snow combined with bound on breaks (has sat now for 2 weeks without being moved) means it wont move at all

I got an F2 evo one, pm sent.
As for changing, an easy part to remove, a sod to get to, its at the bulkhead side of the gearbox. Time to call in a favour to a mate with double jointed arms.

What was the problem (symptoms etc.) with the original starter motor?

Well I'm changing mine tomorrow - or at least removing it to verify the part number.

The top left bolt for the starter motor is was a bit of a bug*er to get access to - I've taken a few pics if anybody needs to see what's required.
