I have a spare throttle body/ inlet manifold, but want advice on what can be done, its already been cleaned up, but what else can be done

Get the old one bored out to 58mm and fit larger butterfly, then get the port opening on i/m and enlarge to teh same size

then if you wanted you can polish it to get mirror finish - i done it and loved it

Polishing not a prob, but where do I get a larger butterfly from? I'm assuming the spare isn't already bigger, its from an F2 evo engine, but been told its the same.
Got access to a lapping machine at work, is it worth skimming down the butterfly then polishing it? Also whats best edgewise, square edges or knifeedge?
What about ports on i/m? How can they be ground?

well the original butterfly is 55mm iirc, and this can be maxed out to 58mm - so you can make it bigger yes - as long as it doesnt catch then it should be ok - theres 2 screws that secure it so you can play and see what you think.

You could match the runner ports to the head, but, depends if you want to bother really... The gains are minimal, but if it costs nothing then what have you got to lose?!

How do I get from 55mm to 58mm? Only way I can think of is to make a new one.

you can get it bored out - tbh that isnt a DIY task - i think it needs some sort of lathe? not sure im afraid

Got a lathe at work, and I can dore out the internal bore of the throttle body myself, that not a prob, the prob is how do I then get the butterfly to 59mm? measured up last night, the butterfly is 1mm bigger diameter than the bore, which is normal (apparently), this stops it closing on the flat edge and jamming. So knife-edging (which lots of people tell me is the way to go) will only screw up the seal.

not sure if you can get 59mm - iirc the max is 58mm

My one had a new butterfly cut and put in

The butterfly is slightly bigger than the bore, this means it can't sit square, or it will jam.
Look down a shut TB, and the butterfly is at a slight angle.
So I can bore out the body, but will need a bigger butterfly.
Will it make any difference skimming and lapping the butterfly, a I have the equipment at work to take in down to a fraction of a mm (although I'm not going that thin, it'll bend) and the lap it so smooth it'll be silver and I'll see my face in it.
What can be done with the manifold, things like port grinding, hows that done?

im not sure im afraid - thats the extend of my knowledge on that - but i wouldnt personally make a thinner butterfly myself, its asking for problems

didnt know that either with the butterfly! could have sworn mine sat completely flat - well the larger one did as when held up to daylight you could see a fraction of daylight round the edges...

porting the inlet manifold - well you can match the runner ports to the block size, although its supposidly good to have a slight lip to disturb the air or something, and other than making the tb port hole the same size as the tb (otherwise no point in doing the tb) im not really sure - whether there would be any gains....

Oil catch tank arrived this morning, so once the clean TB is fitted I'll fit that too, so it'll stay cleaner in there.
Would it have any effect on throttle response if I wound the springs on the throttle pulleys up a turn?

i meant the springs being wound, wouldn't the accel. pully give him the same result, as really he's lookin for an quicker response int he?
