Im having trouble with my CAI. Its peeing me off badly because the pipes keep slipping off and the floods round here at the minute are bad.



What i want to do is make it into a SRI just for winter. I dont want to cut away any pipe if i can help it. What i want to know is, will the filter fit inbetween the fusebox and the battery with just the upper pipe and the MAF? Also how have you guys secured it as i cant see how to mount it in there apart from putting the covers on an hoping for the best.

where the pipes join up with the silicone hoses they should be secured with a large jubilee clip - are you just pushing the pipes together and hoping the silicone holds it together?!

No mate im using the clips but it still isnt holding. I think it just isnt sitting right as i managed to fit the CAI without widening the hole which goes into the wheel arch. turning out to be a bad move. Can you advise on whether or not the filter will fit inbetween the battery and the fusebox without cutting pipe away?

Im not the best person to ask with CAI unfortunately, ive only just moved up from gen 1 to gen 3 and I have an SRI in mine, so ive never seen these fitted to the wheel arch - and sadly most people are at the brum meet today - whe they come back im sure you will get an answer

One thing that is for sure, if you post a picture up of the system, then it really helps

As you can see im pretty sure a filter on the end of the MAF sensor is not going to fit inbetween the fuse box and the battery. Ive seen some SRI home made jobbies a while ago but i cant find them now. Please post a pic if anyone has done this setup. It would be a shame to have to cut 3inch off the upper pipe because ill never be able to put it back to a CAI in the future

Hmmm interesting...just seen this picture on SFR.




Looks like i will either need to cut off the lower pipe where it begins to bend to go into the wheel arch hole and then the filter slots in nicely, or buy a straight 3 inch diameter pipe, about 1 foot. I would prefer the 2nd option. Has anyone got a bit of spare piping i could buy? or a link to a website maybe so i can buy one?
