Have recently purchased a 2009 Coupe 111 two litre manual and have just topped 1000 miles on the clock.
It has started to react strangely at about 1800rpm when changing up in 1st, 2nd and 3rd. As I put one foot on the clutch and take the other OFF the accelerator pedal, the revs actually go UP by about 250rpm ??
Has anyone experienced this on their own Series 111 ?
The dealer has done "something" to the car but has not fixed the problem .. they want me to put another 500 miles on the clock and see if it goes away.
Any advice would be appreciated.

Not sure what that could be mate, but i would be chasing the dealer. After all you paid for the car to be new and you dont want to be driving 500 miles with strange problems. It should work right from the start.

Yep it would be a trip back to the dealer if it were me. They should fix it not let you drive round for 500 miles because if it causes further damage they will prob deny all knowledge of telling you that. Mine doesnt do anything like that and just short of 14000 miles now.

Sounds a bit like its trying to take in a bit more air, could be some underlying problem. Have you tried an ecu reset? (take off negative terminal on battery and press the brake pedal a few times, reattach terminal and go for a drive).

you say the car is brand new. it is quite possible that the issue you have is not an issue at all. but just the way the car is untill its fully run in. on some cars the ecu knows this and has a protocol for runing in. what i would do is what the dealer said cover the extra 500 miles and then go back. but remember for running in a car or bike you mast vary the engine speed and load and allow for cool down and start up cycles, its no good spanking out 1500 miles in a day and than start asking why why why. so just drive it as a regular car that it is and employ a certain amount of restraint. remember its not a super car and you are not a super car driver nor do you have super car money. allow the car to run in and settle down. once you have done everything by the book then complain to the dealer.
