Hi,
Bought 1999, 1.8 coupe 3 weeks ago. 2 weeks ago she started cutting out.
She has been in a garage for the last 2 weeks. Crank sensor came up as an error code so they replaced it but still cuttingout. No codes on theirs or a hyundai dealers computers. They have tested all conectors and checked through the wiring diagrams. They have also tested it with a substitute coil pack, and checked the 12V supply to fuel pump, coil and injectors. They think the only thing left is the ECU but cant be 100% sure. because she is an import their usual companies cant supply a ECU and so they cant take it any further.
I hobbled her home, about a 40 mile drive. She struggled to get out of "town" driving, I had to keep her at 2000-3000 revs. I drove in 4th gear to keep the 3000 revs up on the motorway but she lost power about half way home. Left her for a few minutes, got her started got her home. She will start ok but wont sty in idle for long. After a few minutes sat in idle/restarts she just gives up and wont start again for about 5 min.
A question, before I send of my ECU for testing.........
The temperature gage is not working. We have fiddled today and found the connected for the temp sensor seams to be broken see picture below. The connector wont fit on the sensor correctly.
So my question is. .... If the temperature sensor is not sending the correct signals to the ECU could this be the cause of my engine cutting out rather than it being the ECU itself? If so does anyone know what exaclty is this piece called for me to look for it?
Sorry this is long but want to give as much info in the hope someone can help!
Thanks for taking the time to read this
