It just advances timing and when under full throttle lifts your cams open slightly longer. Its all used for when your gunning it the engine can suck/blow air/exhaust fumes out as quick as it can!

The re-knowned i-VTEC is the worlds probably best vvt system in terms of performance, between 5000-8000 its like having a rocket up your a** vtecs are cool.

it has slightly more power tha the beta engine but dosnt respond aswell to the mods

thats because hyundais is more for economy than power.dont forget hyundai doesnt like tuneable or powerful cars

the benifit of CVVT controlled variable valve timing, VVC variable valve controll, VVT variable valve timing ect ect is to bring the torque curve into the low end of the rev range to give a more progresive and stable torque to rev range. as inherently 16, 20, 24 valve units produce there power in the top 1/4 of the rev range but have nothing below that hence a multi valve car will rev higher than a standard 8v four cylinder engine so to overcome the issue they introduced a controll system to delay the exhaust valve cycle to creat more pressure/torque in the lower revs and then when the engine reaches an acceptable rev speed the exhaust cam will advance to the same degree as the inlet cam thus increasing the engines ability to rev higher. so basicly its a way of spreading the engines power to make it smoothe and progressive rather than all or nothing.
