I have a 2ltr siii auto, have been only driving a few months now and never used this yet (The shifting up and down like a manual) what advantages our there to using this rather than just keeping it in drive or should i just stick to the drive. any thoughts on this would be helpful thanks.

It gives you a virtual sequential gearbox, in effect the TCU has a selection of preset shift ratios that are activated when in that mode. It may do other stuff like sharpening up the throttle response too.

It'll be good stuff on a twisty road, or for a spirited drive - but for general driving the standard auto should be fine...

Thanks Rik'n'Vik took your advice and took it on a nice twisty road it was a lot of fun using the shift mode, (or as my wife calls it the flicky thing lol ) but think I need a bit of practice with it as I kept not shifting right , so on the way back just used drive to see what the coupe was like on that sort of road and it seemed to handle very well even thou I did scare myself a few times!!.

The worst thing I have found with autos is that they can be prone to have different ideas of what gear to be in mid corner than the driver. Which can be 'interesting', hence the sports mode...
