i got my Gen 1 for nothing and has been in my lock up since October 09 due to waiting for my the tax and MOT to run out on my other car. However things on my previous car did not go to plan so i had to get my gen 1 ready for MOT so Thursday & Friday been working on it.
Saturday it passed, considering it was not driven since march 09 and been sitting on the previous owners drive then in my lock up ever since. so you can image how happy i was when it passed.
Anyway drove it to work today and it is amazing how a car can put a smile on your face (i can see why people love there coupe) as it is so nice to drive a car that is so comfortable, got the speed when need it and has the looks as well. seems like all my hard work has paid off...just thought i let you lot know

First off, deffo do the Snorkus mod - as found in the DIY section. Takes 10mins and makes it sound like a Dodge Viper when you accellerate.

Sore point, mate - body fell to bits from sitting on grass for 3 months while we buggered off to Australia trying to emigrate. It all went tits up in short order and I came back to find rusty sills and subframe etc. Repaired that and had a mostly trouble free years running. Then come the next MOT it needed new shocks, rear brakes, more welding, the rust on the rear arches sorting - caused mainly by sitting on the grass for 3 months. You get the picture?

I was skint (as per friggin usual) so ended up breaking it last March for the bits, which was probably the saddest day of my life since we got the knockback from Oz. Overall this last couple years has cost us £22k, our house, our Coupe and damned near my marriage. Still folks wonder why I'm p*ssed off so often...

Thats the goodbye thread I made when I broke it - and I'm still bloody skint, having lost my job recently. So no, no chance of a Coupe anytime soon.

Heh, no worries - sorry to dump all that on you, but there's more to it than 'well, I just had to break it' as you can see.

I did the vast majority of the work on it myself, and learned a helluva lot along the way - hence one of the main reasons why I continue to hang about on here helping folks with modifications etc.

i glad i know who to turn to when i am in a bit of trouble , i have modded quite a few cars mini, fords & fiats but hyundai are new to me so i am see this as quite a challenge. i have seen the whp you got from your car and was well impressed so if my car turns out half as good as yours i be a happy man.

Nah, don't really do the 'standing around, gossiping' meet thing anymore. Pretty tempted by the prospect of a Dyno day tho. Might turn out for one of them, employment situation allowing.
