This morning, turning off the road onto a tesco slip way, doing 10mph at most, hit some black ice, and stuffed my beloved 3.5!!!

Its scraped all the front bumper, the drive shaft has come out, the arms are bent, and the ball joint has snapped. The alloy is also completely cracked.

Its now sat at agarage waiting to be seen tommorrow.

I dread to think of the bill.
However to try and save me some money, has anybody got a 3.5 alloy they are selling??

sorry to hear that bud,surprising how much damage you can do at such a low speed hay,i stuffed me works van tho other night into a farmers field was only doing about 25mph due to snow,£2500 worth of damage

Its driving me mad though.. because i dont know when i am going to get it back ,or how much it is going ot cost me.. im just hoping it isnt too much so i dont have to claim off insurance

Update - Hyundai have quated £1000-£2000 to fix it... surely not, from hitting a kerb side on at like 10MPH?!?!?

dealers tended to 'over repair' to be safe so they get no come back. you'll prob find they will replace the front shocks and springs(have to be done in pairs) as it would have had a heavy impact.

PRobably wing and bumper replacement + Spraying. Fog light???

the drive shaft itself will prob be the bulk of that price, around £500-£600

Happened to me last year. I was qouted a similar price by Hyundai for the repairs. I sourced all the parts myself. Got a nicer front bumper, CF bonnet and a few other bits. Saved myself a small fortune.

Im trying to source myself a new alloy to save a bit at least on that.
I hope they arent looking at the bumper, as theres nothing wrong with it, theres no fdamage to that..

Im gonna get a quote from a local garage, before i leave it with hyundai

my brother distroyed my coupe with the same senario & the insurance will cover only 50% of the repair bill
the prob is about the air bag system that will coast a lot to restore it back
2 Rims
front bumper
all the front suspension
toys around the engine
& some plastics & hoses

my heart is broken' and nothing can repair that

yea i hit a wall after more or less same thing, loada work needed and it was actually called a write off, hope to have mine back wed/thurs and a bill of around 1300-1400?

i feel ya pain and i'm gutted for ya!

That is some hard luck I've span mine into a curb and crashed it a few times and apart from the tracking being slightly off it has been fine, going to make sure I drive a bit more carefully now anyway after reading these posts!

Update:

After Hyundai quoted me that, I had a friend who owns a local garage look at it...

They have said that the ony thing that they can see is broken, is the front arm, £170 part, £50 labour to fit, and to check over.

I obviously need ot find a wheel too..( or a new set of wheels )

wow. thats real bad. it happened to me. same speed at a junction, i slid into the side of a parked car. all i had was a broken number plate n indicator. although the other car's wheel was bent and door n wind crumpled, said to be a write off.

Guess i come of a little lighter., bad times, sorry to hear it.

Everybody who's posted seems to have very heavy damage yet when it happened to me. my coupe come away with little war wounds.... i feel very lucky now

just wish that it will be back like it's first time
