Basically what i would like to know, as i have never had the opportunity to find out for myself. Is there much difference between the gen 1's & 2's (rd) coupes and the gen 3's (gk) onwards in terms of rear legroom/bootspace?

Front isn't much of an issue as i'm a hobbit plus i know a couple or fairly lanky people on here who own them and dont seem to have a chioropractic subscripsion. lol

I've had a gen2 and got a gen3, I would say there is more boot space in the gen3 but more legroom in the gen2 . This is purely subjective and not based on any science/measurements. but I seem to have to move my seat further forward in the gen3 to allow someone to sit behind me

I'd agree. Though the boot in the gen1 seemed deeper than the gen3.

Having been in the back seat of Mackers gen3 (nothing I swear ) I was shocked at the lack of leg and headroom, even Vik found it a squeeze - deffo more room in our '1, the '3's and newer are proper 2+2's... Boot size is pretty much the same, TBH...

yeah my mum is like 5'3" and with my dad in the front her legs were crushed in the back they really should be a 2 seater

but the gen 1 wasnt too bad at all in the back

Yeah but if you're fairly small, rear passengers might not have too much trouble as your driver's seat won't be too far back anyway. Most folk that have been in back of mine have had more problem with headroom than legroom. Tall 'uns have to get their bonce behind the roof lining near the boot-lid window where there's more height. Those stickers on the boot and door edges warning about slamming the lid with rear passengers clearly aren't there for a giggle! Smaller folk in the back have found it OK - better than they'd expected. Personally, I'd prefer to have more headroom and no sun roof but I wouldn't want the 1.6 engine you get with a solid roof...

I know this doesnt really help- but the boot on these cars is amazing; i swear I have more usable room than my flatmates family peugot lift-back

SIII (same as Gen 3 effectively) has extremely tight rear legroom. My mum can sit in the back, but she's like 5' 3". I don't fit there and my 6' brother has no hope at all.

The boot is impressively large for this kind of car though!

I've seen 3x 6 foot guys get in the back of my gen 3, though one did have his leg along the centre console! Above about 5' 8" you're banging your head on the window. I could put good money on having more room in the boot (in fact, I've slept in it, fold the rear seats flat for the head end and you get a good view of the stars)

Slightly different note, ever tried getting in the back of a TT? Now that's small...

I'm pretty sure I could fit my guitar in my dad's Gen2... but it won't fit in the boot of my Gen3.5! It fit in my sister's Accent Coupe's boot too! Gen3 must just be a weird shape...
