does this mean that older v6's will be worth slightly more than newer ones then.

that is a possibility.its also a possibility in 18 months time there will be loads of v6's for sale........and more sheddy ones because people cant afford to have them serviced.that could well be the ideal time to buy one but i also think a bad time for 1.6 and 2 litre,especially 1.6 cos people will want smaller engines and 1.6 value might go up.........2 litre will probably stay as the sensible bet,when you lookhow much they fetch second hand they are certainly worth more.
but if i was looking for a v6 id be looking about the time the tax goes up,and perhaps 6-12 months later

I've been stating this every time someone has considered buying a gen3! I always recommend the V6 to people, pre-may 2006! Why do you all sound so surprised!

Duple has posted in at least 2 topics calling me a V6 fanboy and saying my tax is over double what a 2.0s is and that noone should buy V6s, despite it being nothing like that much. Of course, he never finishes what he starts and runs off without reading it!

SIII V6s are going to be a pretty big bargain in the future if you don't mind the tax.

This arguement can be summed up quite simply - it's the price you pay to have a nice car.

Whether it be fuel economy, insurance or tax - if you want a sports car or a car with a big engine, u expect to pay more than a passion-less 1.2 Fiesta.

If your love for the car isn't enough to overcome the running costs, then you have the wrong car.

spot on.the bigger your engine the more your gonna pay.someone was saying on telly the other night the scrap yards are gonna be full of bmw 750i's only a few years old.if you can afford big taxes your gonna be able to have some of the nicest cars ever made!

Correct me if I'm wrong here, but the last time I checked, the 1.6 Coupe is in the same tax band as the 2.0? It makes an extra 2mpg... but you need to drive it harder to make the same progress, so that's that eaten up... The only saving a 1.6 gets is insurance.

I would have thought about a V6 if the tax hadn't gone to £400+ for them at the time.

New Coupe with all-new engines will be better off all-round. 1.6 turbo... mmmm yes

the insurance from the 1.6 to the 2l isnt that much difference.

The insurance for 1.6, 2.0 and 2.7 were the same for me.

My 2.7 works out cheaper than the Gen2 2.0 i had , i think its down to the thatcham alarm on the Gen3 .

not as many gen3 v6's wrecked as gen 2's too I suspect (althogh some of the wrecked gen 2's weren't wrecked just people didnt realise the front was supposed to look like that )
