Hello.
I used to work for Hyundai in Korea, USA and Europe in a technical capacity and held a senior position. I now own a workshop in Birminghan that specializes in Hyundai in general and Gen 1,2 and 3 Coupes in particular. I have become incensed by the dealer related horror stories I both read on this site and hear from my own customers: mis-information due to little or no product knowlege, treating customers poorly and ridiculously high prices, to name but a few. On top of that there is a lot of "a man in the pub said" information flying around too.

To this end I would like to offer my services to any member of this forum for free, no obligation, advice or to actually carry out work on your vehicles at a very special rate applicable to members.

The revision of Block Exemption regulations in October 2003 ended the right of vehicle manufacturers to insist on dealer servicing to retain warranty validity.

I can offer:

Servicing to manufacturer standard, using OE or equivalent OEM parts, complete with a stamp in the book that has the Hyundau "H" logo on it to maintain a consistant history.
Diagnosis, using the proper Hyundai "Hi-Scan" computer.
Immobiliser key coding on the 3 types of system in use.
Any and all other types of repair work.
Accessory fitting.
Anything else I forgot.

I know I'm in Birmingham and that is a bit far for some to travel, but if you weigh up the savings over dealer prices it might be worth it.

hey sharky. as you know im having problems with my cam shaft sensor. while my mechanic is doing the tests that you have advised me to do, i have been looking around for quotes on the sensor just incase it has gone down. as i say the main dealer wants 170+vat for one. i got a quote from a few breakers.and the cheapest one for a cam shaft sensor used is £41.00 inc vat postage and 30 day warrenty on the part. which is tempting.

what price can you supply them at?

and is it worth buying used parts or is it a waste of time and money.

You shouldn't have any problems with a used sensor and it's better than forking out £170. I don't know the part number off the top of my head, but if you've got it, or you PM me your reg I'll see what I can do one for.

As for the call outs - I'm afraid not. I am going to the Stoke meet in September though and I have been meaning to ask the Forum if it would be worth my while bringing my Hi-Scan along.

You didn't say whether it doesn't open off the button or the key. I've got a Gen 3 V6 in on Wednesday with this problem and it looks like the button on the door is faulty.

sorry my appologies and nothing opens it the key wnt open it and the button makes the clciking sound as if its releasing but doesnt acctually open it

Hi,

the injectors do give off a pronounced "tick" on Coupes as there is no pulsation damper in the fuel line. Also on the Gen 3's Hyundai adopted the RFL, or "Returnless Fuel Sysyem" which has no fuel return line from rail to tank and runs on increased fuel pressure of 3 bar at idle, instead of 2.5 bar like the old ones. This makes the injectors noisey.

If it's rattling from the engine itself, from inside the cam cover on the right side it'll be the timing chain.

everything seems ok looks wise anyway!!! basically i shut the boot one day and it hasnt opened since ive tried with wd40 and trying to manually release it from the inside with no luck!! nothing has been done to the rear of the car at all.

If it is the latch thats broken is it an easy fix or is it liable to cost a fortune??
