2003 reg, 46k miles, 1.6s coupe, price £3990, what should i beware of ?

had vw for a while they are generally reliable, so is hyundai coupe reliable too?

think mainly just check for rust over the back arches, generally it is said the coupe engines are good for around 200k miles, so you have no worries on the engine side I don't think.

most modern car should have no problem with engines, but some may not be well built or designed, so i have to go to garage often to fix something like hand break is not working, can't ignite, window screen won't roll down or up.
I m more worried about those small detailed staffs.

ahh right, thought you meant the major problems.

everything is usually ok tbh mate, the door actuators do usually go but thats it I think.

Thats not a bad price as I bought my 1.6s Coupe with 28,000 miles for just under £5k last november

Things to look out for are as said rust on the arches, check the bonnet to make sure there is no bubbling (a main hyundai dealer tried to fob me off with one like that)

One common problem is that the door actuator goes (mine went within a couple of months) which means one door will lock and unlock with but the other won't so make sure if you are buying from a dealer that you get a decent warranty (and mention the problem to make sure you are covered)

Obviously check A/C is working and go through the electrics but if in doubt get a RAC or AA check on the car before buying.

to be honest though any little problem sounds bad but they are such great cars (even the 1.6's) something would have to be really bad and expensive to fix for me to be put off buying one.
