Hi Ladies & Gents

At least I hope there are some ladies present because I could do with some feedback especially from a ladies point-of-view as well as you gents from a practical point-of-view (hope that doesn't sound sexist).

I'm a newbie on here.

My daughter wants a 2 litre Coupe (for image!).

Can I get some comments regarding driveability (she's 5'4"), practicality - it does seem to have a surprisingly large boot and reliability (she lives on her own 150 miles from us).

I'm trying to find out if this is the right car for her. Any comments would be appreciated.

I know forums can have a tendancy to bring out the disgruntled owners who only post negatives ( I've got a Saab and you should see Saabscence!) but she is going to blow her savings on a car and I want to be as sure as possible this is the right one for her.

Hyundai Coupes have there common problems as all car makes do, however having owned one of the older models for 3 years now I still dont have much negativeness to say about them.

They are reliable cars, yes I've had a couple of problems, but nothing serious, nothing dangerous (and mine's 9 with 100k+ on the clock)

If she's getting a newer one, the warranty is great.. and by what I've heard they honnour it

Insurance isnt over the top for what you're getting

They are pretty cheap for the amount of car you're getting

there's quite a lot of adjustment in the wheel, seat and such so she should be fine with finding a comfortable and safe driving position

one other thing I would say is I've been on this site a while now and although there have been plenty of horror stories of people crashing there coupes I've not known anyone on here with any serious injuries from these crashes... so I would say they are pretty robust and their safety features seem to work well.

Hels, my daughter is in the Midlands (Rugby). Any decent Hyundai dealers you could recommend?

if you go to hyundai you will pay extra for it. i got mine from car supermarket using a bank loan, so the price was cheap and finance was cheap.

in the current climate you can pick up gen 3's around the 03 plate for 2.5k if you look carefully. id recomend going for something like a 55 plate gen 3 at around 5-6k. s111 are also oon the market now for well under 10k on a nearly new plate.

Just one word of warning though:

If you have decided to not let her have one then don't let her test drive it because once shes driven one NOTHING will stop her wanting one
