ok personally I think the 1.6 is ok and it is easy to get power out of it. but you won't find many people recommending it on here as I found this is an ANTI 1.6 website and all you will get is " WHY DID YOU BY THE 1.6 THE 2.0 IS MUCH BETTER BLA BLA BLA" because most of the members of the site are "older" they don't seem to understand the insurance costs for younger drivers .

The 1.6 is a great car for the money and I love mine. As for it not being sold in other country's. The only place I believe it isn't sold is the USA. In grease there is even a 1.6 turbo.

I have a 1.6 and have no probs with the speed. You certainly appreciate the power after 8 weeks driving a 1.1 corsa as a courtesy car while your car is being repaired. LONG LIVE THE 1.6.

When I was looking for my Coupe I test drove a 1.6 as I didn't particularly want a larger engine (I was 23 at the time - so young *sob*) however the 1.6 didn't come in the SE trim (at the time) which had the leather and air con I wanted, so I ended up with the 2.0.

Which eventually ended up with a supercharger attached, but hey who knows what can happen!

I have driven a 1.6 twice as a dealer loaner (BCC Bolton) when my v6 was in for work. To be honest around town its really nice, way better than the v6 at low speeds - gearbox is nice and fluid etc.

OK, they don't have the toys either but the cloth seats on the gen 3 are pretty decent and nice and grippy. Ride quality is better than the v6 - which is not really a suprise.

My v6 is modded and I for one am not anti 1.6 - sure I pull people legs about driving a proper coupe, but in traffic I would prefer a 1.6l - obviously overall the v6 is my cup of tea. 1.6l is also cheaper for service etc I think.

I have driven in a Gen3 1.6 and a 2.0, my gen 1 2.0 se would rips the living sh*te out of both of these cars. The V6 is another question thank god that would kill a 2.0 se (Not F2 EVO) (just about). And its not as if the MPG on the Gen3 for the 1.6 or 2.0 is any better than the Gen1 2.0 either.... whats the deal, why arent they getting more efficient and or more powerful??

Manufactuting regs mate. The emission constraints get tighter. We're just past thepoint where the technology caught up with the performance of the pre cat days and weve been reigned in.

my first coupe was a 1.6 and i got slated for not getting the PROPER 2.0 car, i also bet peter weedy ( ex member ) that in 6 months id go past him in a race..... which i did. the 1.6 engine is every bit as tunable as the 2.0 and if insurance is an issue like it was for me then i recommend you to get the bug*er. end of.
