Must be a Gen3 thing. My Gen1 pulled noticeably better after doing the mod.

thats odd, mayb ring them up again and rather than say i've done a "snorkus mod" say i have taken a plastic tube out of the car, and it does not effect it, its known as a "snorkus"

i know it's tricky - and that's why insurance ppl love it - they'll try to find any excuse to not pay out - watch the latest Michael Moore film Sicko to see how badly US health insurers try to wiggle out of payouts. Car-wise in this country, have read of Admiral refusing to pay due to the car having non-disclosed painted calipers - even though they admitted it'ld only change the policy by £20. point is, you have potentially purposely not disclosed information ('cos they dont know whether it's purposly or accidentally) and thus been fraudulent on your aplication.

a snorkus mod is such a trivial change, even less that a lick of paint on the calipers, so I cant see it mattering. but doubt any1 (no matter how car-noobish they are) could say they didn't realise the shiny tube and cone-filter, tinted windows, shiny loud exhaust on old rusty car, etc might not be stock - admitedly they might not know themselves exactly what it is/does, but surely there'll be a question in their brain about "that looks different/out of place" and therefore should get a 2nd opinion. Especially if you consider more and more cars are purchased from car supermarkets where they're all next to each other, so 1 mod stands out a lot...

realistically any insurance company will stick to their guns with "ignorance is no excuse" in the same way you can't use it as a legal defense in court. Simple solution - if you're unsure, or question anything when buying a car, you should take advantage of a mechanic-mate or something like RAC's independent inspection service.

You only notice it when shes pulling air (on acceleration) and its just a more sporty growl, more what you would expect it to sound like if someone hadn't silenced it.

I wont lie when I say I'm terrible at doing things like this, so I'd appreciate a bit of guidence, no matter how stupid what I'm saying sonds lol.

Am I right in saying that the item I want to remove is that sort of tube to the right of the battery, just above the right headlight? If it is, how do I remove? Just unscrew it from the fixings and thats it?

You need to pm Twister for detailed instructions on this as its not as easy as with gen1&2. I've seen him do this mod (video on the brum meet vid on the net) in about 10 mins. will try to find link to vid for you.

there's been many comments about this but at the end of the day, look at cars like fatdads, and dans, they are both using superchargers, so it don't get much more heat than that. and they use cai's which cut that box out all together.

the pipe is mearly restricting the airflow, as its only put in there to calm the noise down for other european countries.

ask some of the other people on the site, some will agree with you, some won't. we done a snorkus mod to kerry's car two brums ago and she has noticed a remarkable increase in performance.

try it and see, if you don't think its working, put it back!

I've just done mine. I expected to hear a difference as soon as I started her up but it seems to kick in around the 3000 rpm mark. Very throaty, very nice and not at all chavvy. There is definitely more "Oomph" when moving off too.

I couldn't see the bolts to take the resonator off though. I take it that it's okay to just leave it there.

did this today after getting girlfriend to have good drive yesterday.she reports(without being told anything at all) its faster and the noise is better.
