Post subject: | No Bleeping alarm! |
I have the car booked into to have a bleep added to the alarm system. I am jarred off (theres a phrase from the past) having to check the car has locked if I don't notice the subtle flash of the lights. The trick is to bleep with the indicators when the alarm is switched on and off and not while I am turning a corner. The job is gonna cost about £40. ...OR IS MY ALARM KNACKERED? |

I thought that you could program it so that it bleeps. I am sure that was the case with the Gen 3/3.5 alarms but I could be wrong. Having a bleep might be something I have to get as well because like you I keep on checking whether the doors are locked or not. Alex |

Hello Mike, forgive my noobness but I am not sure what fob I have. Mines a 2005 Coupe with black lights so I presume that my car is a gen 3.5 so your method wouldn't work for me anyway right? My fob has some numbers on the back, N153......will your method work for me? I don't want to try it unless I mess something up. |

Mikeharrison if I ever meet you I'll buy you a pint! I've just tried your method on my 53 plate Gen3.0, and it worked a treat! No more squinting at the indicators on sunny days to check I've locked the car! Beep beep! O. |

My 03 fob has a small button, nearest the keyring, that only seems to set off the alarm, and a large button at the bottom that locks or unlocks the car......any one else have this type.....and can it be programmed to beep? |

I don't know (yet) how to insert an image into a post... so here's a link to a photo of my alarm fob. Sorry for the quality, am at work so had to use the camera in my phone. It's here --> http://wv838.com/alarm/fob.jpg Hope this helps? PS: The small button is the panic alarm, it can also be used to alarm the car but _without_ the internal sensors being armed. Handy, I suppose, for a hot summers day when you only want the contents of your car stolen. |

Hozzie, The Red LED is just a different frequency to the Gree LED, so the above method shopuld still work for you, assuming your remote is similar to the above pictured one. Daz. |

Yes the remote is similar, however, i dont seem to have the LED in the car that people are talking about, or have i misunderstood that bit? |

I've got the new Meta HPA alarm fitted now, but they haven't fitted the LED/Switch unit, just the LED unit. Means that unless you can get hold of the switch for it (or the keypad), you can't program this yourself - you'd have to go to your dealer/installer Real bummer, BUT there is a plus... The Meta alarm flashes twice on locking and once on opening - meaning it's easier to see you've locked it! Stu |
