Right, the tale. I was following a dark silver/grey astra 57 reg this afternoon and its underpan fell off hitting my car , it broke my foglight which i was pretty pi$$ed off at. but the lad obviousley had no idea what had happened(i hope). Basically i'd like to take his underpan back to him and ask for a bit of compo for my light lol i know the reg is there a way i can find his name/adress out?

contact your insurance.keep the piece.claim and say he hit you you have the evidence

i've allready got another fog light and was going to fit it after i'd been round.
is there no way?

insurance is a route i will avoid not worth the hassel to me tbh
if i can find him i'll just ebay his underpan that might get me my money back for the light

Write to the DVLA they are obliged to provide you with the said information.

I believe there is an admin fee for getting the info from the dvla..

however there is always a black mark on your insurance for claiming regardless of blame.

im sure your right.there is a fee from dvla

iv just thought..........wont the data protection act prevent them giving it to you?

quite probably , allthough the reg i got and i know it was right is coming up as a blue punto and it was a silver astra

remember if you have an accident you are legally obliged to inform your insurance company, by filling in the form you have it on record you were in an accident.

you can use the DVLA licence check service to see if the car is registered and taxed, you can use the askmid database to see if it's on the insurance database.. this will at least let you know you have the right details, and that its not cloned/stolen/fake plates, if it's missing one of these or it doesnt add up I would sugest you contact the police and inform them you saw bits falling off a car, however the person has no decency so approaching them would be a waste of your time, and potentially cause you trouble.

[sorry I know this sounds like I'm sugesting you shouldnt try, but I've seen people who have had so much hassle because the system just doesnt work, just protect your back, because this guys already caused you enough hassle by driving an unroadworthy car.]

well i have to wait for the form to be sent and then for it to be approved and returned so a month? maybe 2?
