Has anyone been done on these, the type I am refuring to are two sets of cameras one mile apart we have a few on the M4 by us relatively new and I was thinking three lanes that you might well swap from one to another in a one mile stretch varied speed below or above the fifty mph limit, constant flow of traffic in all lanes sounds like one hell of a piece of equipment inside them cameras to monitor all traffic at all times thoughts or info please

its a total joke what they have done on the m4, almost straight after the severn bridge it starts and doesnt end until your afew miles past cardiff. there is know reason for it being there the road works are only about a third of that section. it is purely been put there to make money. also feel it actually makes motorway driving very dangerous as if you need to change lane you have to slow down to let the insde car get infront of you as if you speed up you risk getting done, and everyone is doing 50 not like the cars in the middle and inside lanes are going slower than people in the outside lane.

between newbury and swindon they have these camera's on 70mph section. and if its dark and the motorway is unlit you cannot see these at all. all tho as they are forward facing i dont think they would be able to read your number plate in the dark as the front isnt illuminated the headlights will hopefully blur the whole image aswell.

its just another way to screw money out of us, and its working as many people are treating them like gatso's and slowing down as they pass them then speeding back up not realising they are going to be timed.

Some are going up on the A12 just north of Chelmsford. Part of Essex police's new general victimisation of motorists.

When I go from my gf's (Cheltenham) to home (Wigan) and back its m5 + m6 all the way, around 130miles.

For the most part there is average speed cameras with cones (no workers or indeed any sign of work being carried out for the most part) for around 2-3 miles at a time, and as soon as you hit the "End" sign about 100ft later you hit a "Roadworks 2 miles" sign! :bang

This covers a huge section of the journey, I used to be able to do it in around 1h45m with no traffic just sitting back with cruise control on. Now with no traffic it still takes around 2h30m its ridiculous. Only 1 or 2 have any work being carried out on them, the rest are just 50 zones for the hell of it I think. My theory is it's the highways agency's way of saying "We're in charge!" and the government's way of raking in the cash.
Especially in the dark the cameras are damn-near invisible and alot of them dont have a "50mph in 3/4 miles" sign, just a "Roadworks in 2 miles" then "50mph" some time later, with a camera about 5ft after the "50mph" sign so it's ANCHORS AWAAAAAAAY! Because even gentle braking would still see an average speed that you could be penalised for.

Once or twice I swear there were cameras with no main big "50mph" sign before them, no "Camera Not In Use" sign, and later on there are repeator "50" signs... brown trousers time!
