I'm a little confused. Using this over at parkers as a guide, http://www.parkers.co.uk/cars/road-tax/ ... eriv=22597

Based on that if I got a V6 on a 55 plate registered before 23rd March 2006 I'd pay £215 this year and £245 next year?

I'm only confused as everywhere says the V6 is £400 tax.

Cheers

As you state pre March 06 is £200 odd and after March 06 is £400

There must have been an engine change towards the end of march 06, and from 23 March to Sept 06 models are rated at a higher Co2 level and so a higher band.
After Sept. 06 the coupe then became the S111 and so is rated differently again.
Very confusing.
I checked my 2.0 litre S111 Auto on the Parkers guide and it came out with a lower tax than the chart I found on another site which I've previously published on this forum. The chart I copied is :-

Band --- CO2 --- 2009-10--- 2010-11
Road tax bands for next year onwards.

Code --- C02--- 2009/10--- 2010/11
-------- ------ ---------- ----------
A ------ (<101) ----£0 -------£0
B --(101-110) ----£20 ------£20
C --(111-120) ----£30 ------£35
D --(121-130) ----£90 ------ £95
E --(131-140) ----£110 ------£115
F --(141-150) ----£120 ------£125
G --(151-160) ----£150 ------£155
H --(161-170) ----£175 ------£180
I --(171-180) ----£205 ------£210
J --(181-200) ----£260 ------£270
K --(201-225) ----£300 ------£310 Hyundai Coupe 2ltr Auto S111 2007.
L --(225-255) ----£415 ------£430

but according to the guide you used I'll only pay £210 from March 2008
then £215 from April 2009 and then £245 from April 2010. The last one, 2010, is £65 cheaper than in the chart above. I hope it's right I'll be quids in.
I'm almost looking forward to renewing my tax now I know it's going to be less than I thought. Unless someone out there knows something we don't.

that is soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo cheap!

In Ireland
1.6 (my coupe) is bout 500 euro
2.0 is near 700 hundred me thinks
2.7 is a very reasonable 100euro. that is a 100 a month every month or the year bringin it up to a whopping 1200.

pre emission tax band goes up as far as 3.2!anythin over 3.2 is taxed as 3.2! bet tax looks cheap now!!!hahaha

Oh no off we go again. I hate it when I look at my tax disc £400 for 12 months.
Yes I know its worse in other countries but why?
I cannot see a logical reason.
CO2 output is not valid as I do less than 8000 miles a year so a less CO2 output car doing 12000 miles will put more CO2 in the air.
How much CO2 is fat boys armoured jag putting out in a short trip from Downing Street to Westminster (walk fat boy, do you pay the congestion charge)? If he were that bothered about CO2 he would shut his big mouth, as all he talks is rubbish.
I say Abolish road tax put it on petrol.
You then pay for usage both CO2 output wear on the roads and the savings from DVLA (how much is a prime time TV advert) would reduce the required amount.
Sorry for the rant but from history you can see it gets my blood boiling every time it comes up.

i thought the petrol thing too but then my friend pointed out something.we both work in the same job in the same place but she lives in the countryside i live in the city. so obviously she will use more petrol because she has further to go!

car tax should be based on......................................how nice ur car is.say if u have a hyundai coupe the govt should give u money, but if u have like a hyundai Atoz (and why would u have one??) u should pay road tax cos that was a bad idea!!!!! :lol

seriously tho a good decent fair road tax system needs to be put in place!

Pushing the topic parameters I agree but!
Tele text this morning the Governments senior medical officer wants to follow Scotland’s proposal to increase tax on alcohol so as to curb drinking related illness.
BBC this morning, talk show on taxing unhealthy foods.
What is happening to this country?
