Hi everyone! New to the forum here, i got my first coupe - 2002 Gen 3 1.6S - a couple of weeks ago.

I'm really enjoying it but havent been able to put it through its paces yet! i've done a few track days in the past, and i'm thinking about taking my coupe for a blast. what are your thoughts on this? is a Gen 3 1.6 too slow for a track day?

Personally I would take any car to a track day if I just wanted to do it for a laugh and ragg the hell outta the thing.

However, if I wanted to do it on a regular basis I would soon get bored of the 1.6's power and want something with a bit more poke.

go for it man!! give it a go, as volvoman said if it becomes a regular thing then maybe you should go with the 2ltr but just thrash the 1.6 for the fun anyway!!

Yeah i'm pretty sure i will. Being 23 and living in Liverpool means i chose the 1.6 for economy and insurance reasons.

Although the 1.6 isn't exactly a track car i'm sure i'll still have a laugh! i've done track days in mx5's. focus rs's, pug 205 gti's, mk2 Golf gti's and caterhams in the past, but they've never been my car!

Anyone else in a 1.6 want to join me? i'll probably go for a twisty small circuit like Anglesey.

Yeah the coppers are crap drivers ... there always way behind the boy racers

its hard on your front passenger tyre but i think i was on the track 5 times, 20 mins a setion and only used bout half a tank. Thumbs up like brill day
