I was similar to you fella; but must have been a little later as I had two parts to the test and could only ride 125cc with a limited bhp. I was on a Stan Stevens tuned RD125LC, with the usual micron exhaust. After that a 250LC, 350LC, 350 powervalve, RG500 Gamma, GSXR750, and now the blade, but looking to change it for an R1 soon.

I know exactly which day you are talking about as we had a footy tournament going on and many arrived late due to that accident. Yes I realise I'm very fortunate to live out here, I used to live over in York but moved out several years ago. I sound similar to you; with a few years out of the biking scene due to the family . . . are we those born again bikers then?

I fancy an R1 as I've always liked Yamahas (you can tell by the lost list of Yammie 2 strokes!). So I'll get one keep it a year and then settle down to something more sensible as I'm as young as I used to be and although I love the sports bikes, the back and wrist starts to ache! Also I've gone back to Uni to study to be a teacher, so oncve qualified I'll get a tourer and then spend the long summers hitting the highway . . . well we can dream can't we!

I'd agree with that, as long as you obviously go somewhere decent who will give you some good advice to go on your way!

Of course once you've got the knowledge of how to make the thing go, it's then mostly just experience and being sensible, plus no doubt pushing finding your limits by picking your bike back up and trying not to look too silly

When I passed my test all I had to do is ride round the block and back to the examiner without falling off! Total distance about half a mile, total time about 5 mins! Passed easy!

This was back in the 70's, I used to race Motocross and Enduro all the time back then.....ahhh, memories!

Had a Thundercat up until a few weeks ago when I finally had to sell it due to lack of use and lack of space! The Thundercat was a brilliant bike - I couldn't fault it.

Passed my test in the 'good old days' when there was a part one and part two of the test. Also passed my advanced test. I have ridden most types of bike over the years and currently have these in the garage: -

2006 - BMW R1200S
1998 - Honda Fireblade RRW
1953 - BSA A10 Golden Flash

The beemer is used for touring, the blade for trackdays and the BSA is ridden most weekends, come rain or shine.
