A similar thing happened a few years back. A car was left smashed up outside my flat. My neighbours said they'd call the police but I told them they would only touch it if it was stolen or involved with a crime.

However I did contact the council and they removed it in 24 hours.

Please provide as much information as possible using landmarks and road numbers.
The vehicle type.
The vehicle colour.
The vehicle registration number.
The expiry date on the tax disc.
Whether the vehicle is burnt out or not.

Usually they have to give the owner notice but if you're lucky they might run a project in partnership with the police which will give them immediate removal rights.

Thanks for your suggestion. Only problem is its neither untaxed or abandoned, thats what had the nice lady on the council switchboard confused. She suggested the Police, the Police suggested the council!

Its a heavily smashed up taxed vehicle parked on the road outside the owners property. The one saving grace might be the fact that I believe the house is council property.

Local MP it is then me thinks!

Another one and slightly less criminal than grafitti is to print out one of those "This Vehicle To Be Removed" signs. Laminate it. And then stick it on the windscreen.

It should, as some people say, put the willies up them. Not literally of course.

I'd just make something up. Steal the council logo. Make sure the "This vehicle will be removed" is in bold red. And give them 7 days to remove it from the date of the notice. Don't put any phone numbers or anything on it!!

Call your local police non-emergency line and report it as abandoned. Say its been there for a few weeks now and it is a danger. If theres broken glass around or bits hanging off, make sure you mention that. Within a couple of days you should have a PCSO pop round and have a look at it, if he/she feels necessary, it will be removed at the owners expense. If not, then hound the council!!!!
