hey dood....for better clearance remove the air box etc so u have some room to work. Also I recommend u use better jubilee clips (about £0.50 each) from Halfords.

Yea coolant flows through the pipes :bang
Use a pliers to remove the clips over the hoses "Squeeze ends of clip together+pull hose down"
U a 8-10mm pipe to join pipes together "no longer than 40mm as hoses will kink"
No need to put plugs on the throttle body holes.

I made up the pipe joiner outa brass with the ends same as connections on throttle body.

What sort of gain you looking at with this? Might do it after the winter, Scotland is very cold at the moment. Very very cold actually, left my hose on today after washing the car and slide on my arse walking done the drive

it shouldnt have froze we dnt get temps low enough, i want to do it but am finding it hard to get hold a piece of pipe thats 10mm and long enugh they all seem to sell 25mm in length

When I did mine, I didn't bother to join the hoses. I just got a spare length of fuel hose, removed old hoses (perished and knackered anyways) and bridged the coolent outlets with the single pipe. 2 Jubilee clips and Sorted. Hose length was about 6" for my gen 1but it's not that critical, just make sure the hose is not kinked on the bend...

The benefit is down to cooler air entering the inlet plenum - the same principle as with a CAI, cooler air being more dense so more power. Disconnecting the TB Heater system hoses prevents the inducted air being heated - this was done to prevent the throttle butterfly from freezing in the open position. A number of people have performed this - self included - and have had no such problems. As for bhp, mpg increase - I saw very little tangible gains, it would depend on other mods you have done....and having the car on a rolling road, before and after...

Yes there the one's you bypass ... i have'nt got anything like that on mine , this is another thing that has been done to my Coupe before i got it , i'm just wondering now has it been chipped also , because my 0 - 60 time of 7 seconds should'nt be right :confused

did this MOD on saturday... then it snowed sunday and i had to drive my girlfriend to work! happy to report the throttle body didnt stick open and i made it home in one piece to build a snowman.

no noticeable difference in the engine performance, but is nice to know my CAIs efforts are not longer being made redundant.
