Right guys, heres a quick video to show you what part of the handbrake system locks up.

Excuse me sounding like a knob im lying in the snow, with a stinking cold and its already bloomin low to the floor

This has been done on a 56 plate Gen 3, but should apply to all gen 3's - and if you see this then you'll know exactly what to do with the older gens as it looks very similar indeed.

Its very easy, when you know what to look for

as a slight sidenote, try to avoid hitting the cable or where its anchored - that little lip on the end - tap that towards the BACK of the car.

Brilliant, hoping this might have saved me some hassle. I'll be out there with the WD40 sometime today!

Update: cleaned off with WD40, then coated with some aerosol copper grease. Hope this solves the problem, if it does, big thanks due! :)
