7AM this morning, went and cleared the car and deiced the windows etc then came in the house to get ready for work
7:20 this morning went back out to the car just under 2 inches deep in snow again!!!

Dont think living at the top of a hill has many advantages in this weather, took 2 hours to do 1.2 miles to try and get to work, gave up and came home

thats the wierd thing, at 6am there was hardly anything and the gritters came round and covered the roads, it just all fell in about an hour and a half and then nobody had a chance.

Doesnt help when i had to drive everywhere in 4th and 5th, even my dad was spinning everywhere, the compacted snow is just as bad as ice, he did a 360 in his astra estate just as i was sideways around the corner! haha

Nice pics! The Toyos aren't too bad in the snow, but that's a serious amount you have there and I'd be staying put too. :)

We got a couple of inches ovenight.

My toyos have been herendous tonight trying to get up my bank, spinning like crazy and i tried going slowly but got nowhere, even started going back so just had to power through with the TCS light flashing like mad. The torque cleared the path for me :lol

Where I work we're expected to walk in if we live within a 6 mile radius - but it is the NHS so I guess that's fair enough! :old Wellies and sledge to the ready for tomorrow...and I'm not kidding.

Oh, the Toyos don't have much grip, but for a summer sport tyre, you can get by. As long as you are very carefull.... and smooth... and don't need to climb hills...

If it was worth people buying winter tyres in the UK, we would not grind to a halt when some snow falls.

Not really, different gear ratios... ;)

Also tend to find that it's better to drive on unpacked snow where possible, you get a better grip.

hard to find with our neighbours who insist on wheel spinnin everywhere and kids runnin round and strangeley rollin around? had to push a van up the street with a few neighbours last night, t'otherwise there was no way outa the close lol!

and yer tru, never thought of that ... obvious now as I read it :lol It doesn't help with the coupe having, I think, a high ratio for first gear

All cars have a high first gear, otherwise you'd never get 'em rolling in the first place ;) Thats why it's recommended to use 2nd (3rd for me, but I have a shedload of torque from the TDi  ) when it's slippy :thumbup

We've had even more snow this morning and I just drove over to my parents. Sliding around all over on the packed snow and the tyres won't cut through the fresh stuff very well. This is the limit of the tyres now, any more snow and I won't be going anywhere. :\

It's -15 up here today according to the car :help

When the road is clear of snow, the tyres are slithering about anyway, my heated seat switches won't turn on, the winter rattles are in with a venegance, but this morning I had a new problem.

The drivers door central locking release has either stopped working or is frozen.

This is the coldest spell I can remember since I moved here.

Only -11 down here in the Black Country - but every morning my ABS has been frozen, particularly on one wheel, and I think has ben making the brake bind a bit - so this has meant I have real trouble getting up the tiniest of gradient on packed snow in 1st, 2nd or 3rd gear! Strangely, going in reverse seems to be fine, even uphill. As soon as I've done a few miles and/or the temp comes up to nearer 0 then it's all fine again. Also when the temp is really low, my handbrake feels really loose, and then once it's warmed its back to normal again. My doors have been frozen shut several times every day, though the locking system is ok, but I've managed to pull a section of door trim loose trying to get them open.

Bring on the spring! Remember when it was warm enough to have the sunroof open and no coat on....?..... :\

Those are some nice winter shots. You have plenty of snow in your area!
