A couple of weeks back I picked up some rather nice Hyundai 17 inch alloys. Unfortunately a couple of them were in need of quite a refurb.

I've made a start on the 2nd worst one and am quite happy with the result so far.

Still need lacquering which I'll be doing tomorrow in my new paint booth (picked up a cheap gazebo at argos so I can work on these without worrying too much about the weather , I really need a house with a garage )

and a decent car to stick on the wheels..........looks like your doing a really good job there.

I read quite a few threads from people who'd done theirs.

What I've done so far is

1. Sand the wheel down to get rid of most of the scuffs.

2. Used some Isopol filler (quite cheap from halfrauds and was recommended by a few people)

3. Fine sand filler

4. 3-4 coats of high build primer

5. Fine sand primer

6. 3-4 coats of silver alloy paint.

Still to laquer and finish but this being my first refurb I'm quite pleased so far.

How much would you have spent in total then hutchy? How many tins of paint etc?
Sorry for all the questions. Just want to work out the difference between diy and getting professional job.

Well I've spent about £30 on materials so far. I reckon I'll be able to do the full set with one tin of primer/paint/lacquer.
