Haha what a day.....somehow, lately, every time I touch this flippin car I get it wrong!
All was going well until my girlfriend told me to use a rubber!!! Heard that one before eh?
I whipped the H badges off today and also de-badged the rear end of my coupe! The T badges went according to plan, no mess and no damage to the paintwork, I also managed to fit the badges on the wheels without a drama!
The problems started when I tried to remove the gunk left over by the COUPE lettering - oddly, the HYUNDAI lettering didnt leave too much mess!
Can I just say, right here, right now - don`t ever use a pencil eraser on your paintwork
Perhaps it was a combination of the heat and too much T-cut on my previous attempt at cleaning the gunk off but in the end, I think I rubbed through the clear coat and started wearng away whats underneath!
To add insult to injury, I removed the V6 badge with ease but I think the main dealer had decided to add an "S" after the V6 and this was glued with flippin epoxy resin! It was impossible to shift and took layer upon layer upon layer of paint with it when it did finally come off!
So.. I spent the day driving between Halfords and a nother local car shop - trying to find badges to cover the problems.
The end result is shown below, for now its going to have to do. The COUPE lettering I found is quite nice but the V6 is jumbo sized and, to me, looks well out of place!
I`ll order up the TUSCANI, ELISA 2.7 badges Macker has I think. The badges that are on there now will come off easily enough!
The alternative is to find a body shop that will be able to repair the damage without having to re-spray the entire boot as I don`t want to be spending fortunes! We shall see.
Anyhow, here she is:
