Forum Member vs Club Member?

I may be being a bit thick here (it's been known ... all too often, sadly) but is there a difference between being a member of the forums (which I am, otherwise I wouldn't be posting here) :mrgreen:

and being a member of the Hyundai Coupe club? :confused

I'm asking specifically 'cos of the discounts offered to members for things like insurance - when I come round to insuring my car again, I'd like to try the Sky and Adrian Flux services recommended on these pages but not sure if I can blag a discount yet?

Well, as the old fart that is responsible for the whole club thing I will drop my 2p in.

The club was meant to be a physical manifestation of the forums. The first meet was back in November 2001 at the KFC in Northampton - there was three of us

Then we moved onto the hallowed (and much missed) fixit/fitit meets at my place, I think we had 3 or 4 of those, each one bigger than the last. I think we climaxed (oh err missus) with the Llandod RSD meet where we spentteh day playing in Wales with about 50 cars - stillhave the movies but the pics are long gone.

I then had to move on due to work commitments. The 'club' was taken over by some other members who wanted to introduce fully paid memberships etc.

I dont know whats happening now, but the original idea was only to have a collective name other than 'Site' for when we got together. I think I ended up organising it as Boss -Xorro did not have the time and I had an easy job

Anyone remember the 2 issues of the newsletter that went out???

The Club is the physical 'real-world', thing, where as this place is a 'virtual club' if you like. But just because you are a member of one doesn't make you a member of the other.

Plus the Club is a lot more separate than it was in the early days...
