Just tried to search for the word Scotland in the photobooth forum and it returned 0 results.

change the search to the second option like "search for something" rather than "search for all terms"

the search bar is now really frustrating cant find topics that i have found before using the same search terms ahhh whats the problem with it?

You're right; it does seem to be incomplete.

I wonder if the search index needs rebuilding?

You are right Mathew. I takes a blumin long time, so I've not been able to start it off during the day due to internet restrictions at work.

Odd, I have just deleted and re-indexed it and it only took a few mins

Is the search function still being fixed as im finding it to be terrible compared to before the changes, im finding using google to search the site much more effective. Am I doing something wrong should I be searching a specific way?

In case it may help pinpoint the problem, could you give an example of a search query and the post(s) it's not finding?

the other day I tried searching for wiper blades, windscreen wipers and loads of other variations I tried just putting in windcreen. Also tried a number of other searchs I was searching for air vents etc... If im honest if i search for anything thats more than one word it finds nothing what so ever, even if i choose the differnt search options. I never used to have this problem with the old search and google seems to be able to do it fine!

I'm at a loss to explain why you're not getting any results whatsoever. Try searching for a string of words from this thread - don't modify any of the default search options. Do you really get nothing?

For example, to take the first few opening words from the thread - 'Just tried to search for the word Scotland' - what happens when you try searching for those words? Here's a direct link for that search - - do you get nothing?

One thing I have found however is that it looks like no posts before ~Dec 15 '09 are being searched so I will pass this info to the boss and she can take a look. I can't remember the exact date we moved over to the new forum but that date seems suspiciously close to around the time I think it was!

Thanks for highlighting this problem, hopefully we can get it fixed before too long. I dare say this may explain the reason why the re-indexing went so quick!

hmm Im not going crazy it definitly wasnt working before just done a search for all the things I was having problems with and it seems to be returning results including my latest posts regarding the problem can understand why it want working before but it all seems to be working ok now.

Ill keep you posted if it happens again, if its ok for everyone else I have no doubt its probably something wrong with my laptop

Note that we still seem to have the issue that pre-Dec'09 posts don't appear to be indexed (I'm assuming you can't find any posts from before then?) but I'm sure that problem isn't insurmountable.

yes that probably makes sense, as the results im am getting now arent as full as I was getting previosuly if that makes sense any idea if they will get indexed any time soon?

I have added a Google search box at the top, which will search the forums AND the main website.

I think that's cracked it, if you search for "hourse" (thank you to Bronco for his unique typo), then it successfully finds the post from the 18th September.

However, the Google search box has the benefit of return results from the Main site as well as the forum.
