I'm a newbie on this forum and wondered if you have, or plan to have a membership pack when people join?

My little bruv has a clio 182 and recently joined the clio sport forum, he received a pack after coughing up a tenner and got a few bits including... a tax disc holder, a membership card, a sticker and a keyring, all branded with their logo.

Now, they do have a few more members but I am sure they started small.....

It is a relatively easy way to generate income for the site which I am sure, from my own experiences is a time-consuming job for atleast one person if not more.

Just a thought.....

I'm not going to talk to you anymore thedupleman, you owned a CRAPI ! :lol

The cliosport forum also has loads of merchandise, most of it is probably tat but people seem to buy it.
I think it is probably just people wanting to support the club.

one of the largest and best organised owners clubs in the uk,a car that outsold the coupe and a mega drive to this day,2.8i will still kick the arse of a 2.7v6 if its been done right.
im proud to have kept the legend alive-of one of the finest cars ever made by ford

The capri was a little before my time mate, my work mate is a big fan though, he is always telling me how good the 2.8i was...

The only Ford I owned was a Focus and I loved it...

have to say Im with daz on this, ive always had a soft spot for the capri, ive considdered it quite a few times, and like said they are probably the biggest car owners club still going. the later 2.8i special editions with the 5 speed boxes can still go for the 10k mark - says a lot for a car that old lol.

back on topic though the mgzr forum i was on offered something kind of similar, with site decals etc, but they had masses of merchandise as well and its a much bigger forum (their average daily online list is usually bigger than our "most online at one time" by a fair amount). also being a paid member gave other benifits for use on the site e.g. full size sig's where unpaid members are limited to a small one, instant ability to edit posts and tag lines (a short editable one-line under your name) where unpaid members have to wait til they have posted so much.

I think it would be a great idea if you paid like £10 by paypal and for that got a set of small decals/ one large decal in a colour of choice and tax disc holder, and some other privileges were removed and reserved for paid members - i'd be happy to pay for it as id imagine quite a few would, and it would defiitely raise revenue for the site ;)

id thought about this a few times but thought most people wouldnt be interested as soon as you mention "pay" in a recession haha

Yep you got this part spot on Tris , its hard times for some people ... even 10 quid is a lot for some people at the moment , thats why these forums will always be free to use .
People who could afford a couple of quid ... there is a paypal button on the forums at the bottom where you can donate no more than £2 for the up keep of the site ... but this is optional ;)
BTW i dont see a penny of this ... it all goes to Xorro for the up keep of the site .

ha u have to love how this goes off topic!!!

anyhow i think its a good idea but it shouldnt be mandatory. the AROC club makes u buy it be4 u join, but they way we could do it is keep the free membership and then if u want the meberpack its costs a bit. i'd love a Tuscani keyring!!

I see it as a choice thing and a keyring is such a good idea, quite often get into conversations with people over my van keyring ( mercedes ) People see the three pointed star and just start chatting.

The current paypal option at the bottom of the page works for people who are that way inclined but most people want a little something for their "donation" even if it is a trinket or access to a "private" area.
