BMW Z 3

Hi,
Can anyone help me (or am I beond help) my son's girlfriend has a BMW Z3 and I have said I will look at the speedo drive as it has stoped working. Does anyone know if it is on a cable or wire? trying to save time by asking. I know there some very clever people on here (crawl crawl creep creep) .

Should be fairly obvious what it is by looking at the gearbox, TBH. Big fat cable would be cable drive, thin speakerwire type cable would be electric transducer.

Thanks for the tips have now been under the car and sorted the problem. i was trying to save laying down in the snow.
